Dallas Cowboys Serve an Early Thanksgiving at The Salvation Army in Dallas & Fort Worth

Nov 14, 2023 | by Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are scheduled to serve the team’s annual “Early” Thanksgiving Day meal at The Salvation Army of North Texas on Tuesday, November 14 with help from Cowboys partners UnitedHealthcare, Albertsons Tom Thumb and Blockchain.com

The team will split into two groups and aid approximately 600 less fortunate men and women at both The Salvation Army Carr P. Collins Social Service Center in Dallas and The Salvation Army J.E. & L.E. Mabee Social Service Center in Fort Worth.

Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones will lead veteran players and members of the Dallas Cowboys Women’s Association in serving the meal in Dallas, while the Dallas Cowboys Rookie Club presented by Blockchain.com will team up with rookie members of the Cowboys Cheerleaders to serve a meal to Salvation Army clients in Fort Worth.

A long-time team tradition, the Cowboys “Early” Thanksgiving Day meal at The Salvation Army occurs the week before the actual holiday due to the team’s annual football game on Thanksgiving Day. Salvation Army clients at both locations will leave the experience with a hot meal and fellowship.

The event highlights a need for assistance that is greater than ever before, with thousands experiencing food insecurity, poverty, and homelessness with impacts of inflation and rising costs of living. In response to the growing need across these communities, The Salvation Army has adapted and expanded to continue reaching the most vulnerable neighbors across Dallas, Rockwall, Tarrant and Ellis, and Denton and Dallas counties.

This holiday season, The Salvation Army is showing that love exists beyond the most difficult situations by enabling God-empowered transformations of families and individuals combatting poverty, addiction and homelessness. Each week, The Salvation Army of North Texas feeds 10,000 people through is 12 food pantries, treats 500 people though its three recovery programs and hosts 1,300 people through its six shelters and senior living centers.
