The Salvation Army Angel Trees go up in participating malls across North Texas
It’s a clear sign the holiday season is near: the Salvation Army Angel Tree is back at NorthPark Center.
“It feels like Christmas is here,” said Capt. Maxie DeBlanc of the Salvation Army of North Texas, smiling ear to ear. “It's the start of the season, so there's a lot of excitement now around, especially seeing someone grab an angel off the tree already. I am so thrilled!”
NorthPark Center is one of several malls across North Texas participating in the Angel Tree program, the largest in the country. This year, 35,000 children and seniors need to be adopted for holiday gifts.
“It’s a really great tradition for families, and it’s a really good teaching moment for kids,” said NorthPark Center spokesperson Shelby Foster. “As you're here shopping for other things, you can give back and buy a present for a child in need, too.”
