The Salvation Army, Community Leaders Gather for the Doing the Most Good Luncheon

Nov 11, 2025 | by The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army of North Texas was joined by key supporters, elected officials, and signature partners to raise vital donations as part of its holiday fundraising season on November 11 at the Doing the Most Good Luncheon.

The annual signature fundraising event helps raise support for the programs and services The Salvation Army operates across the six counties it serves: Dallas, Tarrant, Ellis, Denton, Collin, and Rockwall. To support our most vulnerable neighbors in need in North Texas, The Salvation Army raises nearly half of its annual revenue from October – December, during the season of giving.

On Veteran’s Day, November 11, at the Hilton Anatole, Event Chairs Sheree and Rick Davis, and Honorary Chairs Denise and Ray Nixon welcomed Charlotte Jones, chief brand officer and co-owner of the Dallas Cowboys, and Steve Reinemund, former chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, as the keynote speakers.

“The Doing the Most Good Luncheon is a way to spread the word on how community members can support The Salvation Army of North Texas beyond the holiday season,” said Major Rob Webb, area commander of The Salvation Army of North Texas. “In honor of Veteran’s Day, we invite the community to support those who served us, and recognize we couldn’t serve our North Texas veterans without the generosity of our advocates, partners, and donors. Thank you to all who support The Salvation Army.”

For more than 30 years, Jones has been extremely involved in the Dallas Cowboys overseeing all business operations, strategies, and applications surrounding the brand. Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Jones calls Dallas her home where she continues to excel at leading the vision and direction of the Dallas Cowboys, while becoming one of the most innovative and versatile women in professional sports.

Reinemund had a long career with PepsiCo serving as President and CEO of Pizza Hut, President and CEO of Frito-Lay, President and COO of PepsiCo, and then Chairman and CEO.

Reinemund graduated from the United States Naval Academy and in addition to his long professional career at PepsiCo, has served as the Dean of the Wake Forest School of Business, a board member of Vertiv, McGraw Hill, American Express, Chick-Fil-A, Exxon, Johnson & Johnson, Marriott and Walmart. He currently is on the Board of the United States Naval Academy Foundation and previously served as Chairman of the National Salvation Army Advisory Board and Chairman of the Board of Corporate Advisors of the National Council of La Raza (now UnidosUS).

As the largest Salvation Army multi-use residential facility in North Texas, The Salvation Army’s Carr P. Collins Social Service Center is one of two facilities in the region that provides extensive programming and support for homeless and disabled veterans. Alongside The Salvation Army’s J.E. & L.E. Mabee Social Service Center in Fort Worth, The Salvation Army is the largest shelter provider for veterans in North Texas, providing temporary housing, assistance securing stable housing, and comprehensive support services such as gathering required identification and documentation to facilitate access to services and housing opportunities.

The Salvation Army supports veterans facing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, social isolation, and financial instability by providing:

  • Transitional housing for veterans experiencing homelessness, offering stability on the path to self-sufficiency.

  • Financial literacy and life skills programs, equipping veterans with necessary tools for long-term stability, such as employment and housing.

  • Partnerships for housing with the Dallas VA, Dallas Housing Authority, and many others to secure appropriate placements.

  • Compassionate-focused and dignity-centered care that empowers veterans on their journey to regain a sense of purpose.

  • Comprehensive and structured case management tailored to individual needs as part of a holistic approach designed to overcome barriers and support their path to independence.

As the region’s largest social services provider, The Salvation Army provides a range of services throughout 4,000 square miles. The Salvation Army of North Texas feeds 10,000 people through its 12 food pantries each week, treats 500 people through its three recovery programs each week, and houses 1,300 people through its four shelters, two senior living centers, and two in-shelter recovery centers each night.

Support from attendees at the Doing the Most Good Luncheon and from donors throughout the holidays allows The Salvation Army to bring joy to families and individuals who need it at Christmas — and helps sustain programs and operations across North Texas year-round.
