The Season of Giving: How to Give a Gift That Lasts
Tens of thousands of vulnerable families and individuals across the region are continuing to face economic challenges. According to the most recently released Census Bureau Household Pulse Survey, in North Texas, around 629,000 are experiencing food insecurity, an estimated 159,000 are at risk of eviction or foreclosure, and nearly 2.5 million adults are having difficulties paying for usual household expenses.
During the holidays, our neighbors are faced with added financial stress, with many having to choose between putting food on the table or gifts under the tree. Amidst continually high requests for assistance, The Salvation Army is here to help — and we couldn’t do it without you. You can give a gift that makes a lasting impact. A gift that helps
alleviate the financial burden of the holidays. A gift that brings hope to children, seniors, and adults with special needs who otherwise wouldn’t have presents on Christmas morning. A gift that sustains The Salvation Army’s transformational services year-round. A gift that combats poverty, addiction, and homelessness.
We offer a variety of opportunities for North Texans to come together as a community for those in your neighborhood who need it most. There are many ways to get involved this season:
- Make a donation in-person or online — all money stays within the community in which it was given
- Participate in Angel Tree to ensure that around 41,000 North Texans feel the joy of Christmas morning
- Register to bell ring at a Red Kettle near you or start a Virtual Red Kettle as an individual or with a group
- Sign up to volunteer at one of The Salvation Army’s locations across six counties in North Texas
Public support is vital to sustaining our operations across 4,000 square miles, in every pocket of North Texas. The funds raised during the holidays allow The Salvation Army to continue to meet local needs with tailored programs that both provide basic necessities and encourage long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
