PROGRAMS & SERVICES
The Salvation Army Oak Cliff Community Center is at the corner of Rosemont and West Jefferson in the Winnetka Heights Historic District. Care was taken when building this center to create a facility that would be in harmony with this turn-of-the-century neighborhood. The community center hosts a variety of activities that enhance the spiritual and social well-being of the vibrant senior adult population in the neighborhood, as well as a variety of social services and youth programs.
The Salvation Army Food Pantry provides groceries to members of our community who are struggling with this most basic of needs.
This Salvation Army community center provides a variety of educational and recreational activities for kids to participate in each weekday afternoon.
Summer Day Camp
We offer low-cost, summer-long day camps, which provide a safe place for parents to leave their children. Each year, financial sponsorships are needed from corporations and organizations to help underwrite equipment, supplies and field trips.
Summer Heat Relief - Cooling Station
Extreme heat can be life-threatening. During the summer months, we provide an air-conditioned sitting area and water to keep people healthy and hydrated.
Lack of adequate income prevents many families from providing Christmas gifts for their children. The Salvation Army's Christmas Assistance program depends on generous gifts and contributions from caring individuals within our community . The week before Christmas, parents come to the center to pick up their donated gifts.
The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. This center offers mainstream Christian teaching at Sunday school and worship services on Sunday, as well as Bible study and fellowship groups during the week.
Senior Ballet Folklorico Dance Group
This group addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs for the senior community with fellowship and dance once a week.
