Fire relief disaster team

The Salvation Army has a special disaster team that responds to all fires in Dallas and surrounding cities that are two-alarm fires or greater. The team also responds to disasters and hazardous material situations and has been requested to assist during crisis-relief efforts following train derailments and plane crashes. It also supports Dallas Fire Rescue as part of the Urban Search and Rescue Team in a 16-county region.

Comprised of 25 volunteers, the team has provided services for City of Dallas firefighters since 1963. These services include rehydration, snacks, food during long-duration incidents, misting fans, portable chairs for rest breaks, and a heater used during winter responses.

The fire relief disaster team responds to approximately 100 fires each year.
